Insignia NS DXA1 DTV Converter

Insignia NS DXA1

This DTV converter is the same as the Zenith DTT900. Insignia is Best Buy’s private brand, version of the Zenith. It is essentially the same unit, with just a different faceplate and logo.

These converters are medium priced, however the general consensus seems to agree that there are lower priced models that are a better overall unit. This particular DTV converter has all the features that come standard on many of the converters. One additional feature that is not found is its Trilingaul feature, which allows for onscreen English Spanish and French menu display. This converter also features the ability to apply aspect ratios to specific channels or programs.

Does anyone know how to program the remote for a Sanyo DS27820 27″ television (or any other similar model) so that we can use the TV’s P-I-P (picture-in-picture) feature with this Insignia Digital Converter?

I cannot get the TV off/on to reprogram-when I first set the box up, it worked fine-then something happened. The customer service rep. said they would send me a new remote-but in the users manual it says ‘you must used the remote that came with the box’ so I am concerned that the new remote will not alleviate the problema if the box and provided remote are somehow “connected”.

    From the instruction manual:

    Programming the remote control
You can control the power button on the TV with
the supplied remote control. To do this, you
need to program the remote control.

    To program the remote control:

1 Determine if the TV is a model that can be
controlled by the remote control. See
“Controllable TV brands” on page 14.

    2 Turn on the TV.

3 While you press and hold TV POWER on the
remote control, press CH or CH one or
more times until the TV turns off. Each time
you press one of these buttons, the remote
control sends a manufacturer code (between
1 and 45) to the TV.

    That should read:

3 While you press and hold TV POWER on the
remote control, press CH [up] or CH [down] one or
more times until the TV turns off.
