I purchased two TB100MW9 Magnavox converters today. I can not get either one to get a signal. When I have just the rabbit ears I get my four stations that I’m happy with, but when I follow the directions (to a T) for setting up the converter boxes I get “no signal.” What in the world am I doing wrong? I did use my two gov issued coupons but I still had to shell out $25 and for us that is a lot of money. I just want to be able to watch tv in 2009.
    What am I doing wrong?

I bought the Magnavox mw100mw9 also. I haveSatelite TV, but live in a rural area where we can not get the local channels. I pull in the closest locals with Rabbit ears, but when I tried to set up the box, like you I only get a No Signal on the screen. With my Satelite receiver even the rabbit ears have to go through the satelite box. Rerouting the cables to do this causes loss of local signals totally. Is there a reason the box will not work with Satelite tv, for local channels?

It works fine for 4 months. Can’t get power up, call the tech support said it may get fried due to power down and ask me to return to the store for exchange. Consider a defective design with no protection. Don’t recommand this box.

I have this box in Metro Indianapolis. It works very well but yes it does have limited capabilities. We are lucky here in Indianapolis, many of our local broadcast providers are broadcasting in HD. I get about 12 channels. I do dislike the “Bad Signal” or “No Signal” warnings that come up.

This unit will not pick up regular (analog) broadcast signals. So, to answer the problems of the users above, your area may not have a provider that broadcasts in HD at this time. Sometime between now and Feb of 2009, you will have a broadcaster that you can watch with the little black box. If it is not working now, put it in the box and get it back out in a month or two (maybe they will have upgraded the broadcast antennas by then).

Bought two of these in March 08, worked fine until September when both units failed completely within 1 week of each other; now no power to either unit and no response from remote. Funai’s warranty is 90 labor and 1 yr part but the labor on each unit exceeds the original purchase cost. So I am going to pitch them out.

I’ve got two different converters, and same as above… No signal. When I have just the rabbit ears I get my regular stations…, but when I follow the directions (to a T) for setting up the converter boxes I get “no signal.”

I’m starting to think this is a scam… What is wrong? Do I need a stronger Antenna? If so, than why does my old one pull the regular channels without issue?

To all that have Magnavox Converters. I was visiting a friend in Ohio this past Oct. I hooked 2 converter boxes up for her. They did not work at first. The answer was that you have to hook your “rabbit ears/antena to the converter then hook the converter to TV. Then follow “set up” instructions.

I bought 2 of these boxes several months ago and they worked fine for a few months, then all-of-a-sudden stopped picking up a singnal. As Cardwell stated above, I think I purchased them at Wal-Mart in March and in September they stopped receiving a signal. As I mentioned, I bought 2 boxes and when the 1st stopped receiving a signal, I tried the second box and received the same results. No signal. Did the DTV standard change in some way where this box does not adhere to the new standard. I tried researching on the net to see if there were any posts anywhere that stated that there were issues with this box. Like I stated, I bought the box, hooked it up and it immediately worked. Then all-of-a-sudden the box stopped receiving a signal.

I had just installed the magnavox tb100mg9 and, whereas i used to get 3 channels before, now, i only get 1. How abaut that! isn’t it great when, for the sake of progress and to relinquish some air space for that anoying public broadcasting we end up having to buy another plastic box that does not work? in addition to the other plastic boxes we paid money for, invested our time and grew a few more gray hairs trying to install them, now this! Piece of trash. and try to get someone to answer any questions, good luck nurse!
however, i did not spend both cupons, i wanted to see how this one works first. now there is some chat on the net about it i can go out and get something that works. it is a good lesson to learn. it seems that everything made in china is made cheap and crappy. that’s wall mart for you. we need to stop buying crap at wall mart and stuff made in china which are one and the same. go american, at least an american guy/girl will earn $ than sending it to another country and have our own workers loose their jobs.
